Q1) In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

I have produced the response to this question, I used premiere to edit a video I filmed and added the visuals linking to the text and comments.

Final website changes

I have made this presentation to show the main features of our finished website. It includes all the links, videos, store and images.

Signed products

Looking at other artists such as Ellie Goulding, we discovered others have added a personal touch by adding a signature to albums and posters. Soraya has edited the album to create a limited edition signed copy to purchase and a signed version of the poster.

Also, here is a signed version of the digipak which uses the signed album.

Magazine and edits

From the previous images, we took a couple of the best photos and edited them, these photos will then be used by social media and more importantly the magazine and a slideshow on the website to advertise the magazine.

Below are the edited images shown from photobucket

Below is a screenshot of the images shown on the website. We have created a mini presentation of the edits below the main image and text for the magazine.

Other magazine examples

Here are two images from the magazine article we hope to create, these examples use one of our similar artists, Ellie Goulding. The image on the left shows more of the colour scheme we hope to follow as the one on the right is more girly but we have ideas from both about the text and images.

Tour dates poster

Here is a screenshot of the tour dates poster created for the website on the website itself. The image on the left is the poster showing all the upcoming events and venues and the information to the right is shown next to the image on the site where people can click the buttons to get tickets. We have used an edited photo of Soraya which we have used before, we liked how her arm creates a border for the dates and the colours look good on the website.

Storyboard and voiceover

We have made a simple storyboard layout which shows what happens in each shot by text and a quick image. We have said what shot will be used and where each location is seen.

We filmed the storyboard and added a voiceover which we edited on premiere and added to YouTube, this video is shown below.

Photoshoot for magazine

In preparation for the magazine, we took some photos in the green room with Issy's iPhone. We decided to use a phone rather than the bigger camera because the larger camera made the images square and it would be easier having an iPhone so they were portrait and rectangular to suit the magazine size and shape. Issy's phone was still good enough quality for these images and we got some different positions and poses of Soraya. We took around 30 photos but we only need a couple which is good as we know have a lot to choose from.

After first draft - Digipak feedback

Here is some feedback for the digipak, it also includes some more of the website feedback.

After first draft - Website feedback

After first draft - Music Video feedback

Soraya has created the presentation that shows feedback for the video. She has added the positives and negatives for each feature of the video such as the shots, editing and mis-en-scene.

By looking at the feedback, after the first draft we can see what the big audience liked and disliked about each feature. For example a lot of people liked the locations especially Spain, this showed us that we need to keep these as they bring a positive look to the video.

Receiving negative feedback was also helpful, we now know the main things that people thought wasn't as good, such as colour and lighting of some locations and shots. This feedback will help us decide whether we re-film or add alternative shots to unpopular ones.

More editing to the digipak

Soraya has been working for a long time on the digipak and has created many images and has chosen the best and has spent hours creating the final one. Shown below is the final edit, it is different from the previous updates because she has added a different border which now says vision instead of Soraya and it is a pink colour rather than blue to stand out more. She has also added more detail to the front cover of the album including text.

Another change Soraya made was the image that now presents 'special thanks'. We got this idea from other similar artists such as Jessie J's shown below, we like the title she has used 'Credits and Thank You's'

FINAL UPDATE!

After more changes after receiving more feedback we have adjusted colours and the signed version to the digipak. Below are some final images, one being a signed version and one being an original.

Firstly, this version has a signed album cover which we changed after feedback to make it more personal and to have more limited edition products on the website. The credits and lyrics have also changed slightly.

This version below is different as the colour of the border is different, we like this colour scheme more and the lyrics and special thanks have changed. This is our final version.

Video first draft!

Here is the first draft of our music video which we have been working on over the last few months. Issy has done the majority of the editing but I helped with the second half of the song and did some independent editing working on effects and order.

We will soon be showing this music video draft to the other media students to receive any feedback, we will then add any changes if needed before we submit a final video.

Posters

Looking at other artists and bands, others have posters to show the album/artist. We have produced two posters which we then asked people which one they preferred. We made one have the colours of pink and white and one was darker, black and white.

People said they preffered the pink version as it was more suitable for our artist as the black and white one was too dark for indie-pop. Because of this we have gone with the image below which can be added to social media and the website.

First draft digipak

Here is the first draft of our digipak which Soraya has been working on. We will submit this first draft to the other classes to see what people like about it and dislike incase we need to add improvements.

Shown below is the presentation Soraya created when she worked on the digipak, she used this to plan and show the process she has done in creating this first draft.
